The translation from word to image is too great to overcome deoending on the type of film you’re making and the scene that you’re trying to deliver. The novel or original work is only a guide, not a map or a template or whatever.

The art in a novel come in showing and expressing multiple realities or the unbroken reality in a linear fashion. The non-verbal, how is it expressed? How do you show the non-visual in film?

The audience will accept whatever you give them. Maybe the audience shouldn’t accept whatever you give them. If you can engage the audience and make them question what you have given them, they will rememeber or at least be impacted by the story.
